General Introduction This and some linked pages contains material extracted from the second booklet of a primary science series that continues the aim stated in the first; to help Christian parents who are teaching their children science. This second booklet is designed for the 7 to 8 year old child. We believe that there is an urgent need for this because as we study science we are continually confronted with the humanistic world view that seeks to deny the Biblical revelation. However, the revealed truth of the Bible enables us to affirm without apology that all there is was made by God and for his glory. In fact it is as we study the physical world around we are filled with a sense of the wonder of God's creation. This is true even though much of creation has now been spoilt by the sinful activities of mankind. Not only can our study of world show us the greatness of God, but we can actually learn more direct spiritual lessons through scientific study. Consider, the following examples :
Thus, the aim of this series is twofold. Firstly, to help the parent to teach science in a way that gives glory to God for all his work in creating and sustaining creation by providing a biblical framework with examples and ideas for practical work. Secondly, to use the many object lessons from scientific study to develop a better understanding of spiritual truth. In this way it is hoped that the parent will have a positive biblical framework to correct the errors of non-christian educational material. The author believes that there is a need for an integrated science course that can be used by British home educators to provide some support in their work of home education. This series does not claim to be the one and only source of material for teaching science in the home. You should make use of books to add to the material as you feel necessary. The parent/teacher should always be on the lookout for things that can illustrate the lessons and train the child to observe and interpret the world in which he lives. The Bible will also be a constant source of examples and applications for the young scientist.
